  • Holidaying Hits Brits In Pocket
Many holidaying Britons feel under pressure to up their spending on souvenirs, presents and cheap "tat" they later wish they had not purchased, a new report has warned. A study conducted by cahoot has revealed that "pier pressure" leads people in the UK to spend a "colossal" 231 million pounds a year on things they later regret.

It has emerged that 68 per cent of people who have spent money on such impulse gifts shamefacedly report they have bought "tacky ornaments, stuffed donkeys and other novelty items". Cahoot noted that a large number of tourists had sombrero hats and other pieces of clothing from their trips now hidden away at the back of cupboards.

Since many people may take advantage of personal loans in order to fund their trips, it seems unfortunate that they are then overtaken by a "compulsion to waste money on holiday tat". Matthew Timms, director of cahoot online bank, commented: "Holidays are all about fun and splashing out but as our research shows it is still important to keep a close check on your finances when you are taking a break. We would always advise customers to have a realistic budget and stick to it."

Regardless of the amount Brits splash out once they are safely ensconced in their local Butlins or have jetted off to sunnier climes, it can be hard to find the cash for a holiday in the first place. Recently, research by Abbey revealed that people saving up a deposit for their first homes often lost their will power and spent the cash elsewhere. The bank revealed that of those Britons saving up for their first home, 50 per cent had dipped into their pot in order to afford a holiday.

However, a low rate loan could be the best way to holiday without spending months carefully hoarding away every penny. Despite this, previous research by Abbey has shown that some people take out loans without telling their friends or family - a situation which Paul Morrish, the director of Abbey Loans, described as "not advisable". Of these so-called "shh-loaners", five per cent borrowed in order to afford a holiday. However, Mr Morrish reassured debtors that a personal loan is nothing to be ashamed of as long as they can afford their repayments. "For those who are comfortable they can afford repayments, it's worth doing some research to find the most appropriate deal for you. There are different types of loans that suit different circumstances," he advised.

After carefully saving for a holiday, or agreeing a personal or secured loan in order to pay for it, most people will be keen to have the most enjoyable time possible and that invariably means spending additional cash on sightseeing, eating out and the odd memento. However, according to cahoot, the average holidaymaker spends 21 pounds on cheap items they later regret. That money could potentially be better spent creating memories and enjoying the trip.

It emerged that the Scots are the least likely to spend money on trashy souvenirs, with just one in five succumbing to temptation on their last holiday. However, people from the south-east are the most prone to buying such items, with 32 confessing they splashed out on "travel tat" over the last year.

The cahoot findings echo a previous report by price comparison which last year claimed that Brits taking winter holidays can spend as much as 700 pounds on extras alone. This, it stated, is in addition to the average 1,400 pounds spent on travel, accommodation and food and drink, with extra cash being splashed on toiletries, clothes and guidebooks.

Shopping online for pocket knives is easy to do. There are plenty of websites that sell pocket knives online. All that is needed is to google search the term pocket knives and a long list of websites will show up. These lists are numbered in the amount of hits that particular website has been gone to and accessed on the internet. The websites range from retail outlets to hunting shops to places selling on the internet. With a wide variety of websites to choose from, you will have no trouble finding one that will suit your needs.

    How Safe Are These Sites?

Most of these sites are safe to use. Most of them employ the 128 bit technology to keep your information safe and unseen by prying eyes. If you are in doubt, then ask. Places like Target, Wal-Mart and Bass Pro Shops have this encryption technology and use it on their sites. However if you do not want to shop at a retail store online, there are other websites available for you to purchase your pocket knife at. These are just as good as the retail stores and offer the same options.

    What Are The Delivery Options?

Many of these sites offer you standard or 2nd day package delivery. This is done by UPS, FED EX, or another delivery service. They also have mail delivery for normal delivery. This depends on the option that you select when ordering your pocket knife online. These are just a few of the options available to you when you order online. If you are not in a hurry, then the postal way would be the way to go, but if you want it sooner than that, then choose a delivery service that delivers in 2 days or next day.

I Don't Have A Good Feeling About This Website!

By all means, trust your gut feeling when dealing with a web site online. There are those that can and do rip you off, so caution is needed when spending your hard earned money for a pocket knife. Something else to consider: talking to a customer from that particular website. Legitimate companies do not mind you talking to customers. In fact, they encourage it. Ones that are not legitimate however will give you the run around. Steer clear of any type of website that gives you a run around. They are not legitimate web sellers and must be avoided.

What Other Things Can Be Done To Protect Myself Online?

Never give out information such as bank account, credit card or any other personal information to anyone. Also make sure that the site has some form of encryption. This can help you with credit card fraud. If they do not have a secure server, then run away as fast as you can. When a website does not have a secure server, then anyone can get your information and usually does. A secure server prevents such theft from occurring and gives you peace of mind while shopping on the internet.

How Can I Track My Package?

Many online shippers usually use a major delivery company such as UPS. These companies will let you track your package. Most suppliers of pocket knives will also have a way for you to track your package for free. This helps you to keep up with this precious package and you will always know exactly where it is at all times. What Should I Look For In A Website?

You should look for variety of pocket knives, pricing and shipping fees. Most of the online web sites, if not all, should have this information up front, so that there is no guesswork to be done. You should also have good quality pocket knives. If the quality is bad, don't buy from that particular website. There are some sites on the Internet that look very bad and amateurish. Leave those sites alone and go to a trusted source for shopping for your pocket knives. Usually a website that is well put together with clear photos and descriptions is a good one to start with.

Always feel free to engage the website and company with an email. You will see, rather quickly, what level of customer service you are dealing with or whether the website is actually legitimate or not. silver pocket watch is something other pieces of jewelry are not: it is timeless. Pocket watches are the very epitome of elegance. They exude quiet wealth and charm, and give their bearer distinction.

Pocket watches are personal timepieces that can be carried around in one 's pocket. They are strapless, and they sport traditionally analog displays. Though not always a present feature, silver pocket watches often have a hinged cover to protect the watch face. Fobs or pocket watch chains are always present to secure the timepiece to a waistcoat, belt loop, or lapel. Most antique pocket watches also have fasteners designed to be put through buttonholes and worn in a waistcoat or jacket.

Keep It Open, or Keep It Closed

Pocket watches could be any one of two types. The first type are open-faced watches, or hunter-cased, often known as Savonette. The second, and possibly the most common type, has a hinged front cover that protects the crystal face of the watch. Traditionally, the stem or pendant of a Savonette is set at its twelve o'clock position. The hunter 's stem, on the other hand, is placed at the three o'clock position.

Modern manufacturers of new pocket watches, however, are not bound by tradition, regardless of the cases they use. Sometimes, mechanism intended for modern wristwatches are being used in silver pocket watches nowadays. This is a trend virtually unheard of with the old, classic silver pocket watches.

    Pocket Watches on the Railway

The last half of the 19th century saw a rise in railroading, as well as the use of silver pocket watches. Old pocket watches became a requirement for all railroad workers, for the sole reason of preventing train wrecks.

After a massive train wreck in Kipton, Ohio in 1891, railroad officials established a precision standard for railroad pocket watches. In 1893, stringent standards for silver pocket watches were adapted in railroading.

    Pocket Watches Today

In modern times, silver pocket watches have become collectors' items. An antique pocket watch is bound to catch the attention of enthusiasts. Pocket watches have also considerably increased in value. Despite their plain faces, railroad pocket watches are particularly appealing for the quality of their craftsmanship. There are also several vintage pocket watches worthy of mention.

An Elgin pocket watch made 50 to 150 years ago can still be of practical use today. These pocket watches are considered symbols of America 's rise from an agricultural country to the powerful industrial country it is today. Waltham pocket watches were the first antique gold pocket watches to be mass produced, with the idea of producing gold pocket watches at an affordable price.

Hamilton pocket watches are known for their precision. In fact, most of their watches became the standard for railroad pocket watches. By 1923, 53 percent of their production was solely dedicated to the manufacture of railroad pocket watches. Another antique pocket watch worthy of mention are the very rare and much sought-after Verge pocket watches. The pocket watch is a survivor. It survived the painful beginnings of the railroad system and is still worn today, in the age and place of commercialism. Beautiful, exquisite, and timeless, the pocket watch will undoubtedly be around for years, perhaps even centuries, more.
